Welcome to Spa at the Monastery! Many clients visiting our Spa for the first time have questions about the Spa or the treatments and packages that we offer. During your visit, our staff is dedicated to ensuring that your Spa experience is as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. If you have any further questions or concerns, our professional staff will be delighted to assist you.

What are your hours of operation?
We are open:
Monday to Saturday 10:00 - 9:00
Sunday 10:00 - 6:00

Where exactly are you located? Is there parking available?
The Spa at the Monastery and Suites, 63 Patrick Street, St. John’s.
Yes there is free parking available.

What else is located at Spa at the Monastery?
Besides the Hair Salon, Monastery Café offers fresh juices, fruit smoothies and light cuisine and our retail boutique offers an excellent choice of health care and beauty products. Spa at the Monastery is also a fully licensed facility and can cater for special functions.

What should I bring with me when I visit the Spa?
Clothing: We encourage casual. We provide you with locked lockers and have chosen luxurious robes and sandals for your comfort during each spa visit. Don't forget your bathing suit to fully enjoy our pools, steamroom, sauna or balneo-hydrotherapy treatment. For Body Wraps for men we encourage the wearing of bathing suits. Appropriate workout attire and footwear are required for the fitness studio and cardio room.

If you have received a gift certificate please bring it to the front reception desk upon arrival at the Spa.

Is there storage for my valuables?
Yes. We do provide locked lockers but we suggest you leave all valuables at home or locked in your hotel's safe.

How much notice do you require if I need to reschedule or cancel my appointment?
Treatment times and services you select are reserved especially for you; please notify us 24 hours (48 hours for Packages) in advance if you must cancel or there will be a charge. All Packages and Spa days are to be reserved by credit card; a 50% deposit, will be non-refundable if proper cancellation notice is not received.

How far in advance should I book my appointment to be sure I get the time and day I want?
We cannot guarantee a set time and day for you. Please contact us at your earliest convenience to avoid disappointment.

How far in advance should I arrive before my appointment?
You should arrive 15 minutes before any Spa Treatment.

Do you have services available for men?
We have equal services available for both men and women.

What do I wear for my massage?
Our therapists have been trained to respect the ultimate privacy of clients. During each treatment, the areas of the body not involved are completely covered and therapists leave the room to allow you to disrobe. 

Are my massage services covered by the Provincial Health Plan?
No. But they are covered by individual Health Insurance Plans. Consult your own health insurance plan for details. We have Registered Massage Therapists on staff, please indicate at time of booking if your massage appointment is for health insurance purposes. Top

If I'm in a hurry, can I combine my services?
We will attempt to accommodate your schedule pending availability of resources. Top

Before which Spa services should I shower?
You should shower before using any of the Pool Therapies Facilities and before all body therapies including massage. We have shower facilities on the Pool Floor for men and the 3rd Floor for women.

I have artificial nails. Can I still have a manicure?
Of course. A manicure improves on all parts of the hand, not just the nails.

How long should my hair be for waxing to be effective?
Your hair should be 1/8 to 1/4 inches long, depending on the thickness of the hair.

I'll be visiting the Spa with a friend. Can we sit together for our manicure and pedicure?
When you make your appointment please ask for particular seating arrangements. We will make every effort to accommodate your request, but please understand that is not always possible; space and scheduling limitations can sometimes restrict seating availability.

Are there any Spa services I should not receive due to certain health conditions?
Yes. It is recommended that any known allergies or conditions at the time of booking be addressed to our staff so they may determine what would be the best treatment in that circumstance. Women who are pregnant may wish to avoid services that are heat-stimulating.  Please check with your doctor.

Do you have a smoking area?
No. Spa at the Monastery is a smoke free building.

If I would like to leave a gratuity for my service person, how do I do so?
Gratuities can be directed to your service person upon checking out at the reception desk. The amount of the gratuity is at the client's discretion.
